Grok Bot with a Jev reflex layer cuts tool calls from 25 to 8 and bills by 22–40%

Testing a Jev yes/no layer in front of each expensive Grok Bot action cut tool tokens from 11,000 to 2,300 and first-step prompt size by 46.6%, though the author warns the Jevons paradox may eat the savings.

I'M F*CKING LOSING MY MIND OVER JEV ON GROK BOT I left one build running overnight and woke up to the same result for 22% less no new model. no new prompt. one reflex sitting in front of every expensive move what it actually does Grok Bot is the hands. it clicks, reads, writes, and it's slow and expensive to think with Jev is the reflex. it doesn't talk. one word and a probability, in milliseconds before every call it asks 25 yes or no questions: will this job need this tool anything under 0.30 gets dropped what that did to one build tools sent every call: 25 → 8 tool tokens: 11,000 → 2,300 first step prompt: 17.8K → 9.5K, down 46.6% Jev call per turn: about 350ms total bill: 22 to 40% cheaper speed: a tie, the router costs what it saves where the reflex sits before a browser, is this worth opening a page before research, is this worth a long read before a retry, will it actually help before another bot, does this need one the numbers 239ms median, 70 to 500ms range output costs $0, there is no output five small questions hit 95.0%, one big vague one hits 62.6% same model, only the wording changed the trap nobody warns you about cheaper did not make me spend less one question became five, then a check before every browser, every retry, every extra bot that is Jevons, and it eats the savings if you let it read the numbers, not the model
