Claude Duet research preview: Opus 5.5, US Pro/Max waitlist

Anthropic just launched Claude Duet, a proactive AI agent app, in research preview. Here's what you need to know. Claude Duet is a new app where Claude works as a proactive agent. It comes to you with what needs your attention, completes tasks you ask of it, keeps working when you step away, and checks with you before it acts on your behalf. It is built around Claude Opus 5.5. Anthropic says that gives it the judgment to decide what needs you, what can wait, and when to check with you first. It carries over the memory, skills and connected apps from your Claude account, so there is little to set up. Early users and reviewers say it has its own cloud computer, a VM and browser, so it can work while your laptop is off. It sends a morning brief and spins up tasks on a list from one simple thread. Some posts claim access to over 6,000 connectors, against 4,000 for OpenAI's Dots. Availability is limited. It is an early research preview, open by waitlist on Pro and Max plans in the US only. Pro costs $20 a month. Dots needs the $100 a month ChatGPT Pro plan, and is not available to Pro users in the EU, UK or Switzerland. Anthropic admits Duet can still misjudge what is urgent. It says it will keep tuning it based on what early users tell it. The launch adds to a crowded field of personal agents: Meta's Muse, OpenAI's Dots and SpaceX's Grok Bot. Grok Bot just added Pages for reports, memos and dashboards. Commentators say the race is shifting from who has the smartest model to who owns the lasting relationship with the user.
