Jev in front of Opus cuts 10,000 daily forks from $110 to $4.22
The author lists five branch points where Jev makes the decision and only hard problems go to Opus (note loading, simple steps, retries, test selection, answer routing), claiming the cost of 10,000 daily forks drops from $110 to $4.22.
holy sh*t. this is the cheapest way to run opus right now and it's jev + opus 5.5... i still can't understand why this pair isn't everyone's default yet this one page has the map everyone needs: which forks to take off opus ↓ opus does the thinking, jev makes the calls, your code owns the thresholds: 1 → notes: a Score picks which project notes load. every token loaded gets re-read on every later turn 2 → worker: a Choice sends the easy steps (a rename, a dependency bump) to a faster model 3 → recovery: a Choice picks retry once, switch tools or ask, instead of retrying blind 4 → checks: a Score runs the tests that touch the diff first. the full suite still runs before merge 5 → split: a sharp answer runs in code. only a split goes to opus, 0.52 vs 0.46 10,000 forks a day: $110 all on opus, $4.22 with jev in front. don't rewrite your agent. move the one fork it hits most and watch the bill for a week. if opus still gets more than a few forks out of a hundred, your thresholds are too strict.
