ChatGPT chat now burns quota; post cites Gemini 4 Argon usage limits
Author says every ChatGPT prompt except Instant now counts against quota, and claims four Medium-thinking Gemini 4 Argon prompts can exhaust a Gemini Pro five-hour limit.

This was bound to happen. Previously, the token quotas on your ChatGPT subscription would not be reduced when you used ChatGPT conversations (chat feature). Now every prompt you send to ChatGPT (except for Instant) will be deducted from your AI quota. Better start stacking up those resets @thsottiaux throws around every now and then. And to be fair, this was a cheat code and didn't seem sustainable. Claude and Gemini are already doing the same thing. For example, on a Gemini Pro subscription, an average of four prompts to Gemini 4 Argon with Medium thinking can burn through your five-hour limit (with High, it's around two prompts). On the bright side, it will teach you AI token economics. Stop using "high effort" mode for every simple prompt. Sometimes, I just prefer the fast responses of instant mode, and the quality is just as good as I want. With Gemini, I get a lot done with Gemini 3.8 Flash. It's a really good model for document Q&A and it's really fast too and barely moves your quota. GPT-6 with Instant is also really good. So you can really get a lot done. You just need to change your habits.
