EventCatalog v5: built-in Studio and MCP extension UI
The release bundles Studio architecture design into the catalog, renders diagrams directly inside MCP clients like ChatGPT and Claude that support apps/extensions, and changes the licensing model.

I'm happy to share that EventCatalog v5 is now out, our biggest release to date. Here is a list of changes and how you can get started.... 𝟭. 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 EventCatalog now comes with Studio build into it. This means you can host your Catalog and design new ideas with it. You can start blank or take your existing architecture and extend it in your designs. With out new Level 1,2,3 system this makes it easier to create diagrams for the right audience. You can also invite your teams or agents to help you design these ideas, leave notes, share them, embed them, what ever you want. Your diagrams stay yours and private to your catalog. 𝟮. 𝗠𝗖𝗣 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 - 𝗠𝗖𝗣 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗨𝗜 EventCatalog will now render your diagrams and studio directly in your MCP clients that support apps/extensions (e.g ChatGPT/Claude). Ask your agent to create a diagram of something, or explain something, it will open the architecture diagram and start drawing for you. This brings EventCatalog experience into your agents. Super excited as this brings a completely new experience for users of EventCatalog. 𝟯. 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻, 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 Many companies are using flows to document their business workflows in EventCatalog. From the first event that triggers to the end of the flow, you can capture this in EventCatalog. You can now group these flows by systems, domains or teams, giving you different views on the same business workflow, helping you understand what, how and who. 𝟰. 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁, 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 EventCatalog model has changed, we gathered feedback from our community and users and have made some changes. We no longer have an open core model, which makes things easier for us to categorize into paying features. We are moving our license model, simplifying our product and giving people more value across their teams. You can read more in the blog post below of reasons why and our future direction. Thanks to everyone so far trusted EventCatalog to document their software architecture, we continue to grow month of month, and we are looking forward to making this product even better for you all.
