User questions whether OpenAI puts monetization ahead of users
A post lists recent OpenAI grievances: GPT-6.1 Astra shelved, Sol slow, Codex limits hard to rely on, Pro cut from 20x to 10x, and a new $500 tier.
🚨 I'm really starting to think OpenAI is putting Monetization ahead of its users. And the receipts are getting hard to ignore: → Chat + Work are being merged → GPT-6.1 Astra was shelved → GPT-6.1 Sol is painfully slow → Codex usage limits remain frustrating, with resets becoming harder to rely on → $200 Pro usage cut from 20x to 10x → A new $500 Pro tier with the highest usage → Users are still waiting for OpenAI to ship a model that can clearly beat Opus 5.5 → And now SemiAnalysis says Opus 5.5 delivers 5x+ the API-equivalent value of GPT-6.1 Sol at the same $200 price on its tested agentic workloads. Look at that list again. Because at some point, I have to ask: When did “give users the best AI” turn into “find more ways to monetize them”?
