Devin test has Astra handle hard reasoning while cheaper models execute

A really interesting AI coding test just dropped. Instead of using Fable 5.1 or GPT-6 Astra for every step, Devin’s coding agent used them mainly for the hard thinking, then handed most of the execution to a much cheaper model. The result: – almost the same coding performance – lower cost – faster execution Basically, the smartest model doesn’t need to do every part of the job. One expensive brain + cheaper workers might be where AI coding is heading. What do you think?
