Anthropic says it turned away trillions of tokens of distillation traffic, banned tens of thousands of accounts often within two hours, and since September 24 has resumed charging for some requests blocked before Claude responds.
HOLY. Anthropic says it has turned away trillions of tokens' worth of paying traffic from distillers trying to extract Claude's reasoning. Its new defenses cut reasoning extraction by 90–99%. Tens of thousands of accounts were banned, often within two hours. Since September 24, Anthropic has even resumed charging for certain requests blocked before Claude responds. Its new classifier has a false-positive rate below 0.1% and is roughly as robust as its safeguards against bioweapon assistance.
