Six days ago I wrote that the base:0xc52aedec3374422d7510e294cfaa90799595cba3 team is busy with the product, not the token. Here's what six more days of "busy with the product" looks like. Quick refresher. Surplus is an open market for AI inference, built by @mac_eth. Teams sell model capacity they paid for and won't use. Developers buy it, and every request goes to the cheapest live offer. Switching takes one base URL. Straight from their public analytics page: → Requests over 28 days: 34.6M then, 44.5M now → Average real discount vs provider pricing: 88% then, 90.8% now → 2.47 trillion input tokens in the current window → Around 1.6M requests a day That's close to +30% on the monthly count in under a week. The shipping didn't pause either. Today @mac_eth put Jev live behind a new /v1/decisions endpoint. Jev is TypeSafe's decision model, it answers with a typed value instead of text, and it came out days ago. Surplus already routes it. It fits the roadmap he laid out on September 10: limit orders, seller algorithms, contracts on the price of inference, a price index. Every model listed adds depth to that book. This is turning into a commodities exchange for compute, and it's growing like one. Now the token. Last time almost 80% of daily volume ran through one centralized exchange. Today $2.7M traded through the main Base pool, against $50K the day before. Market cap went from $4.7M to about $10M. The whole supply circulates, market cap equals FDV, nothing left to unlock. The founder has been open about the order of things. He did the fee math in public, showed how thin a percentage of a percentage of one response really is, and said a simple buyback is the cleanest way to get value to holders. Product first. He's not hiding it, and I'd rather have that than a token mechanism bolted onto a market nobody uses. So I read the token as exposure to what the market becomes. Right now that market is doing 44.5M requests a month and adding more every week. That's a bet I'm comfortable holding. I'm in this one. Six days ago, more people were holding the token. Today the thing behind it is a lot bigger.
