Think this is the first time i've seen that in this industry gemini 4 argon launched at: $2 in / $10 out (per 1M tokens) then from december 1 $4 in / $20 out same model, same tier, twice the price for 3 years a new frontier model came out expensive and got cheaper. this one comes out on a promo and gets more expensive on purpose. a few weeks to get your workloads hooked at half price, then the real bill. cached input stays 95% off, which tells you where they want your traffic to sit i read it as google telling you what the tokens actually cost to serve once the land grab is over.
