Jensen Huang says "AGI has arrived" after GPT-6 Astra launch
The post outlines Astra's autonomous long-task abilities and asks whether strong coding and multi-step reasoning really amount to AGI.
NVIDIA CEO just said: “AGI has arrived” That came right after OpenAI launched GPT-6 Astra But what can Astra actually do in the real world? It isn't just about answering questions. Astra is designed to handle long, multi-step tasks involving: - Software engineering - Research and planning - Computer use - Cybersecurity - Professional workflows - Navigating software and websites - Breaking a goal into steps and executing them - Working autonomously for longer periods OpenAI describes it as a system capable of doing highly autonomous work that can outperform humans across economically valuable tasks. And Jensen Huang went even further, saying: “AGI has arrived.” But here's where it gets interesting. Does being extremely capable at coding, research, computer use and multi-step reasoning automatically mean AGI? Not necessarily There's still no universally accepted definition or benchmark for AGI, and researchers have pushed back on declaring AGI based on current benchmarks alone. So I'm curious: Do you believe GPT-6 Astra means AGI is finally here - or are we still calling advanced AI “AGI” too early?
