Muse free tier finds a $159 phone repair quote, saving $30
The author compares manual price hunting with AI help: ChatGPT found a cheaper bookshelf, and Meta Muse's free tier pointed him to a Samsung-authorized repair shop charging $159.
A couple of recent shopping experiences that drove home to me how much AI/agents could reshape commerce: 1) I spent 20 minutes on $AMZN trying to find a ~70", sub-$80, wood-colored bookshelf with 5 shelves, at least some adjustable shelves, and a decent user review score, and had no luck. I then ask ChatGPT (Plus tier) to find me one. In about 10 seconds, it finds one being sold by $WMT for $38 (far less than anything roughly comparable that's available on Amazon) and free shipping. 2) I submitted requests for quotes on $YELP to six mobile phone repair shops in my area for how much it would cost to replace a damaged Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 cover screen. The best offer I get is $189. I then ask $META’s Muse (free tier) to find the best available price in my area. It points me to a Samsung-authorized repair shop that it thinks is likely to offer the best price. The shop charges me $159 for the repair.
