Play Cubed lets ChatGPT edit your codebase via a built-in MCP service
A developer built a small game by voice from a phone; the platform's built-in MCP service lets ChatGPT inspect and modify the codebase, with full Git ownership for users.
I built a playable game almost entirely from my phone this weekend. No IDE, no sitting at my desk. Just talking to AI, iterating on ideas, and watching them come to life. After 15 years of building software, games, and shipping over 35 SKUs, that’s still pretty wild to me. I genuinely think experienced developers have a superpower right now. Knowing how to architect, debug, and ship real software, combined with AI, opens up an incredible amount of freedom. At Play Cubed, we’ve been prototyping our own “vibe coding” platform (yeah, I hate that name too). But we’re approaching it a little differently. We’re taking everything we’ve learned over 15 years of development, from authentication and payments to databases, storage, game mechanics, and controls, and turning it into reusable building blocks that AI can work with. The goal is simple. Someone with zero programming experience should be able to describe an idea, iterate on it, and build a fully functional app, game, or experience. Not just a flashy prototype that falls apart when you actually try to use it. Case in point, meet Evil Pixel Man, a game where you play a pixelated supervillain destroying a city with your powers. Shout out to Moltin, an upcoming Steam game that inspired this little experiment. I just wanted to flip the concept and play the villain instead! About 98% of this was built on my phone. I was literally talking to our platform, adding features, fixing bugs, changing UI, and iterating through voice dictation. I also connected my ChatGPT account through our built-in MCP service, letting ChatGPT inspect the codebase, make changes, and work directly with the platform. I could bounce between the two seamlessly. One thing I really like is that you actually own your code. Full Git access, the ability to pull everything locally, and even the simulator code needed to test authentication, payments, storage, and more. The gap between having an idea and actually building something is shrinking faster than I ever imagined. And as someone who’s spent most of his career building software, that’s incredibly exciting.
