Muse by Meta hands-on: smooth basics, limited tool use
A hands-on test of Muse finds the basics like NFL weekly recaps smooth, but it refuses to change Instagram bio links or connect a custom connector.
A few thoughts on Muse by Meta. 1. Good at the basics. I asked it for a recap of NFL Week 1 as a ravens fan and it offered to send me a weekly recap of the NFL. The UX is very smooth and intuitive. 2. Tool use feels limited. I asked it to update a link in my Instagram bio, and it asked me to link my Instagram (which I did) and then told me it could only update the description, not links in the bio. 3. I also asked it to connect Co-Invest, a custom connector, and I hit some snags there. All the AI products are fairly similar now, so it’s nice to see an axis along which they differentiate. If you tell Grok Bot or Claude Code to connect to a custom connector in plain English, they’ll usually do it. If you tell Muse or plain Claude to do this, they’ll often refuse. This might reflect that the first two are more developer-focused (Grok Bot from Cursor) and the latter two are more consumer facing. All in all, it seems clear that we are still early in the personal agent space. Excited to see how these products evolve, as well as any potential new entrants. 😉
