Union Alpha passes pelican-on-a-bicycle SVG animation test
A user ran the classic pelican benchmark on Union Alpha and found the feet track the pedals, the wheels and crank animate, and the scarf flutters, leading them to suspect a stealth model from a Chinese lab.
Union Alpha might have produced one of the best Pelican benchmark outputs I’ve seen. Prompt: “Create an HTML file with an animated 2D SVG of a pelican riding a bicycle.” This was its output. I only converted the HTML to MP4 for X. The feet actually track the pedals, wheels and crank animate properly, road moves, scarf flutters, and even the composition is genuinely good. If this exact prompt wasn’t in its training data, this is seriously impressive. Union Alpha is currently running as a stealth model and is free for a week on OpenRouter/OpenCode. No confirmed lab behind it yet. My guess is a Chinese lab testing a new model in stealth.
