I PAID A HEDGE FUND QUANT $500 TO TEAR APART MY AI TRADING SETUP. HE LAUGHED FOR 4 MINUTES. THEN HE ASKED HOW MUCH I WANTED FOR IT he runs risk at a fund you've definitely heard of. he looked at my screen and said "so you're a kid with a chatbot" i showed him the backtest. he said every backtest is a lie. i agreed with him, which annoyed him more than anything else i said that day then i showed him the part nobody gets. claude never decides anything. it reads the market, writes the case for every trade and argues it like a lawyer. the case goes to jev. jev doesn't write a single word. it returns one number, and below 0.80 the trade simply doesn't exist he stopped laughing at the live results. $23,800 in 9 weeks. sharpe 1.9 out of sample. max drawdown 4.2% he told me his desk pays millions a year for analysts whose whole job is to argue for trades, and then a risk team whose whole job is to say no. i built both for less than his lunch budget he asked for the code. i said no. he said $40,000. i said no again not because i'm smart. because the code was never the edge the edge is that the thing making the decision has never once been excited would you have taken the $40k?
