DeepSeek just dropped V4.1-Flash-1017 and the timing is no accident. 
The new model claims faster runs, tighter outputs, and stronger results on coding and agent tasks. 
Benchmarks moved up across the board while the API price stayed exactly the same. 
Weights are open under MIT so anyone can download and test them today. 
Closed labs still hold the edge on a few hard tests. 
The pace of these releases is now the real story.
