Novelist uses Grok Bot to plan interstellar routes and timelines

While writing new books the author uses Grok and Grok Bot to work out garrison holds, timelines and jump routes, e.g. Mirzam to Rigel.

Writing these new books would have been virtually impossible without @grok and it's significantly easier with Grok Bot. Example discussions: **Hold (τ Ori / b Eri):** Yes, but thin — and only after you free them. If the “rise as soon as they’re in the system” rule stays (cold CMs / Halvari caches that light when ships appear), you have to take those systems first, plant, then babysit. Locked prize-crew pipeline covers that: Thule eject-refit → ~2 days to Mirzam → forward garrison for work-up, hope no major fight. That hold is enough to mind prizes and the planted swarm; it is **not** enough to slug a returning Rigel TF without the missiles doing the killing. Same logic as Hjalmar: take early, don’t try to stand up to heavies until the trap (or a fleet-reduction fight) has bled them. **Clock sketch:** Thule done → ~3 days consolidate → strike out for Rigel. Thule→Mirzam = 2 days. Thule stays the retreat hole; Mirzam or Adhara is the forward hub (Furud already in the fuel trio) unless you pick another O/B/A. **Outbound Mirzam→Rigel (non-M):** Direct is ~430 ly. Return is three long A-drive hops (~160–180 ly). Outbound on lesser stars wants shorter hops — an A/F chain that works at ≤~120 ly is about **8 jumps**, e.g.: Mirzam → HD 46854 (A1) → HD 47827 (A0) → HD 44144 (A1) → HD 39789 (A3) → HD 35593 (A0) → HD 31636 (A0/1) → BD−11 1117 (A+G/K) → Rigel That’s the “much longer to get there than back” feel. Pure F/G/K at Mirzam’s distance are sparse in the local catalogs; A (“Fine”) fills the gaps without using M dwarfs. I can swap in named stars or tighten hop length if you want it slower. Better outbound than the A-chain I floated: **pure F/G/K, 5 jumps, all under 100 ly** — Mirzam → HD 44007 (G5IV, 98) → HD 40089 (K0III, 96) → HD 37445 (G8III, 89) → HD 35204 (F8, 88) → Rigel (95). Four-jump if you allow ~130 ly hops: Mirzam → HD 40821 → HD 36885 → HD 35319 → Rigel. Rough clock from Thule: consolidate 3 + Mirzam 2 + outbound ~10–15 → **Rigel about D+15 to D+20** after leaving Thule; return still ~4–6 days. Extra forward-base candidate: **Muliphein (γ CMa, B8II)** — ~96 ly from Mirzam, ~105 from Adhara. λ CMa and k Pup are lesser backups; no good O in range. @grok is like having a world-class astronomer sitting next to you as you write/world-build.
