Building an interactive cat brain in 3D with Astra
The author used Astra to iterate from a single prompt into a rotatable, layered cat brain page with animated neural signals, based on public CATLAS anatomy data.
Holy moly… Astra helped me build an interactive cat brain After the FlyBrain rabbit hole, I wanted to understand the brain behind the creature that keeps knocking things off my desk. No cats were harmed. I used publicly available CATLAS anatomy and published neuroscience research. It started with one ChatGPT prompt. A few iterations later: Brain Cat. Zoom into a black cat. Watch it fade to reveal its brain. Rotate it, separate regions, toggle layers, and explore animated neural signals. Three things I learned: → Some visual neurons respond best to edges at specific angles → Others respond more strongly to movement in a particular direction → The hemispheres exchange visual information through organized connections Real atlas anatomy, with educational signal animations. A page to explore with your eyes and hands. Project, GitHub, and demo in the replies. My starting prompt in the next reply.
