Orchestrating 250 Grok Bot agents that spin up per task and shut down

The author argues agents should spin up only for a task window and shut down after, using 250 Grok Bot agents to show why a graph must decide which agents wake up.

250 agents shouldn't be running all day. they should spin up for the exact window a task needs, finish it, and shut down until the next trigger. as the swarm grows, coordinating the work becomes harder than adding another agent. 100 agents can form 4,950 unique pairs. 250 = 31,125. 2.5× the agents. more than 6× the possible pairwise connections. you don't want every agent talking to every other agent. you want the right work reaching the right agent. the flow: 1 trigger → 250 Grok Bot agents → 5 live data feeds → up to 4,000 steps → verified artifact and that's before you track: sources → claims → memory → tool calls → contradictions → retries each handoff needs to carry what was found, what failed, and what still needs checking. otherwise, one agent repeats the search, another retries the same failure, and a third builds on an outdated answer. the graph decides which agents wake up, what they receive, and when they stop. 31,125 possible connections. only activate the ones the task actually needs.
