Google is tightening access to free Gemini. Starting October 9: Free users will be limited to Flash-Lite, while Gemini 3.6 Flash and Gemini 3.1 Pro will no longer be available on free accounts. What makes this even more interesting is that Google just launched Gemini 4 Argon. AI models are getting more powerful, but the gap between top-tier models and free AI is getting wider too. The AI race in 2026 is shifting from “who has the best model?” to “who is willing to pay for the best one?”
