Jev is not a magic pill: the real place of a System 1 decision model
Jev writes no text and only makes System 1 judgments that take unstructured state in and return a typed decision, suited to classification, routing, scoring and agent guardrails but not open-ended reasoning.

Everyone's selling Jev as a magic pill: 200x faster, 444x cheaper, "can't hallucinate," the ChatGPT killer. It's not. And the truth is actually more interesting. Jev doesn't write text. At all - no prose, no code, no chat. It's a "System 1" model: unstructured state in → a typed decision out, in 70–500ms. A smart if-statement with frontier intelligence, not a chatbot. Where it's genuinely great: – classification, routing, scoring – guardrails that vet an agent's action *before* it runs – judging & filtering other models' output – real-time loops (it plays Doom at 10 queries/sec for ~$7/hr) Where the hype cracks: – it can't do anything open-ended – no test-time reasoning → a real intelligence ceiling – benchmarks measure agreement with other models, not ground truth – "0 hallucinations" ≠ always right. It can still pick the wrong option. So it's not an LLM killer. It's a new primitive that sits next to your LLM and takes the fast, bounded decisions off its plate. Cheap intelligence at every decision point in your code, that's the actual unlock.
