GPT-6 Astra runs 72 hours unattended in a terminal, finishing 63 tasks
The author gave Astra $1,000 and a terminal to queue tasks on its own; over 72 hours it completed 63 tasks, saving about 47 hours of work, and stopped only for decisions involving money.
I GAVE GPT-6 ASTRA $1,000, 72 HOURS AND 1 TERMINAL TO SEE HOW MUCH REAL WORK IT COULD FINISH WITHOUT ME the first night I gave it 6 jobs and went offline. when I came back 7 hours later, the terminal had gone through 31 attempts and finished 5 of them without asking me anything. so I made the experiment harder. I connected the jobs together. research became input for analysis. analysis triggered execution. failed runs kept their context. finished work went through QA. anything involving money stopped for my approval. by day 2, Astra wasn’t waiting for me anymore. the terminal had its own queue, browser, files, memory and rules for what could happen next. then I left it untouched for 11 hours. when I opened it again: → 24 tasks completed → 3 failed and retried → 6 workflows still running → 2 decisions waiting for me the screen looked less like an AI chat and more like an operations room that happened to have no employees inside it. after 72 hours, I stopped the test. 63 tasks. 47+ hours of work removed. roughly $1,000 in equivalent labor. and I probably spent more time designing the terminal than actually operating it. GPT-6 Astra didn’t make the interesting part faster. it made the part where I needed to be there smaller.
