Jev makes agent decisions cheap, and endless loops expensive
Comparing the same Jev + Opus 5.5 stack: a loop with an exit condition spent $0.42 over 3 attempts, while a loop without one retried 640 times and burned $89.92.
Jev makes every decision in your agent ~100x cheaper. it also makes a loop with no exit ~100x cheaper to run forever. nobody posting "x7 cheaper" screenshots is talking about this. same agent. same Jev + Opus 5.5 stack. same flaky test the agent can't actually fix. left loop has an exit: - max 3 attempts - Jev scores "is this still fixable?" after each fail - below 0.50, it hands off to a human 3 attempts. $0.42. human in at 2 minutes. right loop has no exit. it asks Jev "goal met?" and Jev answers correctly every time: no. so it retries. 640 times. 8 hours. $89.92. test still red. Jev's share of that bill: $0.32. that's the part people miss. Jev made the decision cheap, and the decision was right. the loop just never asked the question that ends it. a cheap decision layer doesn't remove the need for: - a stop condition - a budget cap - a confidence gate that escalates instead of retrying if anything, it makes them more important. when each call is nearly free, nothing hurts enough to make you notice the loop is spinning. cheap is not equal to bounded. that's where I stand on it. wrote the full breakdown on agents, loops and graphs for anyone who wants to build loops that actually end.
