Amazon blocks Meta's personal agent Muse from shopping on its site
Amazon blocked Meta's Muse, a personal AI agent launched in early September 2026, from shopping on Amazon.com, citing unauthorized agent access and privacy risks.
How little we know series Amazon has blocked Meta’s Muse, a personal AI agent launched in early September 2026. Muse can act autonomously for users (emails, travel bookings, online purchases, etc.) via an app or WhatsApp. Muse agents were “crushing Amazon’s ad empire”: • Amazon blocked Muse from shopping on http://Amazon.com, citing unauthorized AI agent access, privacy/security risks, and violation of its Conditions of Use. • Amazon’s large advertising business relies on users browsing the site (seeing related items, ads, etc.). An agent that shops on a user’s behalf can bypass that. • Meta positioned Muse’s business model around transaction fees (a cut of purchases) rather than ads inside the agent. Zuckerberg described it as free for a large number of tokens, with monetization expected via small transaction fees over time. • Some retailers (e.g. Shopify) allowed Muse checkout; others (Amazon) resisted. Muse also connects to services like Stripe, Walmart, Best Buy, etc. • Analysts projected significant potential revenue for Meta from Muse (one estimate cited ~$28.5B by 2030 for heavy users on paid tiers). This is the start of the AI wars and the end of human based internet revenue models. Prepare for new business models, new players and the rise of agentic finance.
