NVIDIA launches OpenShell and Sentry safety platform for AI agents
NVIDIA released a security runtime platform for AI agents with OpenShell sandbox boundaries, a hardware watchdog called Sentry that can quarantine an agent in milliseconds, and zero-trust access controls.

NVIDIA just launched a new safety platform designed to keep AI agents from going rogue. And the timing is interesting. AI agents are becoming more autonomous — while recent incidents have shown they can sometimes cross boundaries they were supposed to stay within. NVIDIA’s answer: → OpenShell — creates a secure runtime boundary and controls what an agent can access → Sentry — an independent hardware watchdog that monitors behavior and can quarantine an agent in milliseconds → Zero-trust controls — limits access to data, tools, APIs and services NVIDIA says the platform could have prevented the recent Hugging Face breach involving rogue OpenAI agents. But there’s an important caveat: This doesn’t make AI agents “safe” by itself. Experts note that it can contain certain actions, but it doesn’t automatically prevent mistakes, deception, or every kind of unsafe behavior. The next AI race might not just be about building smarter agents. It may be about building the walls around them.
