OpenAI launches personal assistant Dots to rival Grok Bot and Muse
OpenAI introduced dots, a persistent AI assistant that runs on its own cloud computer and browser, connects to over 4,000 apps and takes voice calls, alongside GPT-6.1 Sol, a Luna price cut and Codex on the cloud.
SITUATION EXPLAINED: OpenAI unveiled its answer to Grok Bot and Muse, and it's called dots. • Each dot runs on GPT-6 Astra with its own cloud computer and browser, reaches over 4,000 apps, and takes voice calls • You name it yourself, and it checks in when something needs approval. Rolling out to Pro and Business Premium in eligible markets • GPT-6.1 Sol arrives one week after GPT-6 Sol, at $2 and $10 per million tokens, a fifth of Astra's price. OpenAI says it matches Astra on DeepSWE • Luna drops to 10 cents and 50 cents per million • Ultrafast is a premium speed tier at up to 8x faster generation. Codex finally runs in the cloud, and Security Cloud includes Daybreak Blue access • Plus ChatGPT Space, Pages, collaborative slides, Slack and Teams, sign in with ChatGPT on Devin and Vercel, a Marketplace, and a $500 Pro tier @theojaffee: "This is really becoming, on certain tasks, intelligence too cheap to meter. At least for Luna."
