Building a fruit fly and robot arm visual puzzle animation with GPT-6 Astra
The author used Astra to generate overlay, neural animation and movement timing code for a short film where a virtual fruit fly and a robot arm point at targets in sync.
I SYNCHRONIZED A VIRTUAL FRUIT FLY WITH A ROBOT ARM SOLVING VISUAL PUZZLES. The project is called FLY / VISUAL LINK. One crowded page. One hidden face. A robot hand moving toward the answer. I built the visual layer connecting those moments. The fly sits over its own notebook with a transparent head. Inside, a neural field rotates and flashes. Its front leg reaches as the robot approaches the page, holds through the pointing gesture, then withdraws with the hand. Search → target lock → signal → reach → contact. Four pointing sequences, with the fly’s movement and signal bursts timed to the footage. The side panel makes each stage visible, from searching the page to marking the target. This version is a synchronized animation over robot footage. I used GPT-6 Astra to help write the code for the overlays, neural animation and movement timing. The interesting moment is the transition: a face gets selected, a signal travels, and a finger lands on the page.
