Trading desk uses Jev as judge to drop overfit rules

A trading bot lets Grok guess, QuantGPT test, Jev judge and code place orders; a rule that scored 0.86 in-sample but 0.17 out-of-sample was marked NO EDGE and discarded.

THIS DESK JUST F*CKING KILLED ITS OWN BEST RULE. IT SCORED 0.86 ON THE YEARS IT WAS BUILT ON. ON YEARS IT HAD NEVER SEEN: 0.17. HOLY SH*T. TWO WORDS ON THE SCREEN: NO EDGE. most AI trading bots would have kept that rule. they fall in love with their own backtest. mine can't. here's why: Grok Bot is smart, but blind. without data it only makes a confident guess. so it doesn't get to trade. it gets a desk. 8 seats. one dial. > Grok Bot = the pilot > QuantGPT = the jet (remote MCP, no key, the server does the math) > my JEV = the judge (reads the dial, never sets it) > code = places the orders every morning QuantGPT publishes one number per sleeve: > MEME 0.29 → hold back > STOCKS 0.56 → press > TREND 0.66 → press above 0.50 the desk presses. below it, nobody trades. every rule then faces the years it never saw: > in-sample: 0.86 > unseen (split 2015): 0.17 > PASS / FRAGILE / NO EDGE FRAGILE = tighten or drop. NO EDGE = "believe it · drop the rule." the last seat is risk. final say. 4% cap. it can overrule everyone. Grok guesses. QuantGPT tests. JEV judges. Code trades. a rule that only works on old data isn't an edge. it's a memory. bookmark it. full desk is in the video.
