Frontier token price index names Gemini 4 Argon among SOTA models
A frontier-only token price index lists GPT-6 Astra, Opus 5.5 and Gemini 4 Argon as SOTA and argues DeepSeek v4 Flash is over-weighted in a rival expenditure index.
Here is a frontier-only Token Price Index that shows state-of-the-art (SOTA) tokens are increasing in price and following in-step with rising hardware prices. This is overlaid with @Silicon_Data's Token Price Expenditure Index. I believe this is flawed, because it heavily overweights DeepSeek v4 Flash. While DeepSeek v4 Flash is the best model in terms of cost and performance (and currently "the" leading model on OpenRouter usage by a long shot), anyone who has used it alongside SOTA models (GPT-6 Astra, Opus 5.5, Gemini 4 Argon, etc.) will know they are not interchangeable. If you instead measure the price of SOTA tokens, you'll see a much clearer picture: H100 rental prices are up more than 50% alongside the SOTA Token Index's 78% since December 2025.
