Oracle cloud: rent any AI chip, plus OpenAI suite with ChatGPT and Codex
Oracle positions its cloud as a rental platform for NVIDIA, AMD, Intel and Google chips, plans to host OpenAI's Broadcom-built inference chip, and launched an OpenAI suite putting ChatGPT and Codex into Oracle apps.
OCI may not be doing its own chips but wants to be the go-to platform for all accelerated compute variants. Some notable quotables: -“Oracle wants to be the cloud where you can rent any chip. NVIDIA, AMD, Intel, Google, even OpenAI’s own.” (Including Cerebras ‘27, Sambanova no date and no date for OpenAI.) -“Google putting TPUs in someone else’s data center is the semis story of the day.” (2027) -“Agents run on inference. Most of the new chips Oracle lined up this week are built for exactly that.” -"Oracle plans to host OpenAI’s own inference chip, built with Broadcom, to add capacity for OpenAI. It also launched a product suite with OpenAI that puts ChatGPT and Codex in front of Oracle’s apps, plus a plan to certify a million people on OpenAI tools."
