Lessons from running 7 product assistants on Grok Bot
The author built 7 product assistants with Grok Bot and shares eight practical lessons, including shared skills, shared context files, a single lead, and asking before acting.

Grok Bot isn't a toy anymore. Last week, I built a swarm of 7 product bots with it. I love watching them collaborate. But they don't run entire companies. That part is BS. What actually worked for me, no hype: 1. Give your bots a collaboration skill. By default, they see only each other's names and the first words of their descriptions. Mine read one shared skill before every new task: who does what, common workflows, who reviews what. 2. Don't rely on the instructions field. Bots don't reliably see your edits even after a few hours on Android and in Windows desktop you can't even see them. Tell each bot what to remember instead. Or ask @poteto when this will be fixed ;) 3. Place shared context in files on a computer they share. My bots read product-context.md and decision-log.md before every task. 4. One lead. I talk to pm-lead, and it pulls in the specialists it needs. Unlike in group chats, you get permission prompts and continuous voice mode. 5. Install a few skills, link the rest. Every installed skill loads into every bot and eats its context. So mine share only 3. The rest are GitHub links in each bot's memory, read when needed. 6. Set "Ask first" for anything customer-facing. My "Ask first" rules: - Send any email, message, or post outside my team - Publish or change anything customers can see - Contact a customer, a competitor, or a candidate - Make a payment or purchase - High risk or difficult to reverse (one-door) decisions 7. Start with a few weekly routines. Mine check for changes first and stop if nothing's new. You won't read 20 notifications a day. You need 1-3 signals a week. 8. If you're engineering with AI, consider giving bots a access to the CLI. My Claude skill teaches them how to run and resume headless Claude sessions. You can do the same with Grok Build CLI or Codex CLI. Bottom line: you have no idea which model currently runs Grok Bot. Whatever people on X say, 100% it's not Opus 5.5.
