User review: Hermes assistant runs email, PRs and social triage
A user lists eleven daily jobs Hermes handles, from DM triage and morning briefs to merging PRs and watching prod, plus notes on memory and voice matching.
Hermes has changed my life. No joke. Every day it: 1- Triages my email, X, LinkedIn + Instagram DMs 2- Sends me a morning brief + evening recap 3- Keeps notes on everyone I meet 4- Reminds me to text friends + family (important!) 5- Fixes + merges my PRs 6- Monitors prod + flags outages 7- Tracks competitors 8- Reviews itself every night + fixes its own mistakes 9- Sources leads and runs outbound campaigns 10- Updates my team on my past + upcoming meetings 11- Watches social media / forums for relevant convos And so much more!!! On self-improvement: I know this is ~obvious~ but one of my fav parts about Hermes is the fact that it seems to be legitimately improving over time, learning my habits/preferences and gaining more and more context about my life. The fact that Hermes is basically one big session where context is never cleared or compacted (at least not from the user's perspective) feels so natural + amazing On writing: One of the first things I did was make Hermes review all my past emails, X posts, blog posts, Slack messages, LinkedIn DMs, etc. to gain an understanding of how I write on every platform and in every context. Hermes now maintains a separate skill + "style guide" for each f these. The guides are refreshed nightly. I am shocked at how good Hermes has become at writing in my voice, although there are still some cases where it generates slop or says something dumb (e.g. verbally accepting a meeting invite that I received 3 months ago). That said, I'm very impressed and now Hermes helps me draft/edit basically all written content On memory: Hermes obviously has built-in memory which seems to work well but I have found it useful to give Hermes access to my Obsidian (s/o @obsdmd) vault for record keeping + long-term storage. I rarely look at these notes myself so it's not really for "collaboration" - rather, Obsidian serves as a place for Hermes to create long-lived artifacts that need to be referenced-back and maintained over time On skills: I know Hermes is creating and maintaining skills in the background but honestly I disabled the notifications for this behavior almost immediately so I don't have much visibility into what it is doing anymore. That said, upon checking, I have 138 skills in total. So it's certainly doing something! On collaboration: Hermes and I have a private Discord server where we've got ongoing threads about everything from my holiday travel plans to how I can make sure my family is safe/secure from hackers. Because so much of what we do is talk about work, I created a custom Slack app that allows me to chat w/ Hermes in the @sazabi Slack workspace (none of my team members can chat w/ him, however) For fun, I even set up a phone line that allows Hermes and I to call each other. Useful for doing stuff when I'm on the go (s/o @Vapi_AI) Conclusion Hermes is pretty sweet and you should give it a try. I haven't really gone deep on Muse or Grok bot yet but I find it hard to imagine that I would like either as much as I like Hermes right now. I think I am officially a fanboy.
