Muse's limits on complex Mac tasks surface in testing
A user testing Muse finds it cannot write files back to the Mac and lacks Codex features like appshots, pointing to the boundaries of its use as a personal assistant.
Tried another task today with Muse on my Mac. This is where I keep hitting the product's limitations. Muse is a great personal assistant, up to a point. That point for me is when I want to do more complex work on my computer. First, it can't seem to write files back to my Mac. So it processes them in the cloud, but can't put them back. I have to manually do that, at least with an Excel file I'm currently working with. This seems like it shouldn't be true, but I've tried to fix it with Muse, and we've hit a wall. Seems to be a genuine limitation. Second, it lacks all the little niceties I've come to love about ChatGPT/Codex. For example, appshots. They're so freaking useful, and you don't realize just how much they become part of your workflow until you lose them. I'm still enjoying Muse, and I'm sure it will keep improving. Just interesting to see where each product shines right now.
