A four-seat structure with checkpoints for OpenAI Dots
The author proposes splitting Dots into Lookout, Maker, Skeptic, and Runner roles with a mandatory checkpoint every five steps, backed by flagged-error rates for long chains.

OpenAI Dots gets risky when one agent keeps running without a real checkpoint. Long chains look efficient, but the longer they run, the easier it is for one bad step to contaminate everything after it. That’s why I’d structure it like this: > One dot, 4 seats. > Lookout -> Maker -> Skeptic -> Runner. > Max 5 steps before a checkpoint. > Permissions split into allow / ask first / block. > Approved work always lands somewhere permanent. The numbers make the case pretty clearly. 5-step chains: 8.6% flagged. 10-step chains: 19.7% flagged. two 5-step legs with checkpoints: 3.4%. So the interesting part isn’t making the agent more autonomous. It’s giving the agent a system that forces it to stop, review what happened, and only continue when the last leg still matches the brief.
