Building a 3D drone website with GPT Image 2.5, Tripo and GPT-6 Astra
A developer generated animal-inspired drone concepts with GPT Image 2.5, converted them to 3D models in Tripo, and used GPT-6 Astra to build a site that runs at 60 fps.
Do you actually need to know 3D modeling to build websites like this? 🤔 Probably not. I don't know 3D modeling much in detail, and I still managed to build this animal inspired drone website using GPT-6 Astra and @tripoai. And no, it's not anything complex to build. I found a design on Pinterest, then used GPT Image 2.5 to generate a few animal inspired drone concepts. I passed those images into Tripo, which turned them into 3D models with smart UVs. You also don’t need to write some huge prompt for Astra, btw. I just explained what I wanted the website to look like, how the transitions should work, and how the 3D models should behave... a couple of lines were enough for it to get the whole thing working. A lot of people don’t like AI generated 3D models because the meshes can be messy, there can be extra vertices or triangles, and the topology might not be perfect. That’s fair, but for websites like this, I don’t think it matters that much. If the model looks good, the site runs smoothly at 60 fps, and it does what you need it to do, that’s enough, no? You don’t need a perfect 3D asset just to have a cool 3D element on your portfolio type projects. Am I wrong?
