openjev: an open-source decision engine that runs in the browser
After a week with openjev, the author dropped a ChatGPT renewal: it runs locally in the browser with no API key, returns a pick from a closed list plus a confidence score, can batch-classify posts and comments and score them 0–10, and its small model lands close to paid Jev on decision benchmarks.

i almost renewed another chatgpt subscription then i sat with openjev for a week and the bill stopped making sense it's not chatgpt. it's a decision engine community built it in the open on github and it runs straight in your browser it does the job people are paying a chatbot to fake: -> no api key -> no waitlist -> nothing to install -> nothing you paste ever leaves your laptop but the features aren't what got me. it's the contract you don't get a paragraph. you get a pick from a closed list and a number for how sure it is milliseconds. no thinking out loud. no typing animation. no essay before the point on top of that you can: -> drop 400 posts in and get draft, skip, star -> split 300 comments into questions, complaints, praise -> score virality 0–10 without writing a novel -> run a small model on a phone -> load the bigger one and land close to paid jev on decision benches (their demos sit around mid-80s vs high-80s) honest warning: openjev is not typesafe's closed jev. different weights. first good model is a fat download. the tiny one is noticeably dumber. and the real jev still sits cheap on vercel's gateway if you want the cloud one 100% open source path. $0 a month locally https://openjev.com/ https://github.com/TheoLeeCJ/SemIf
