OpenAI reportedly reviving Terra budget model, users push back
A user complains that OpenAI is preparing another cheap Terra model alongside Luna, Sol and Astra, and wants a new flagship that beats Opus 5.5 or a GPT-6.1 Astra release instead.
Please tell me this is just some kind of mistake!!! It looks like OpenAI is preparing to bring Terra back, and I genuinely don’t understand why we need it. We already have the cheap Luna, the mid-range Sol, and the expensive Astra. Why do we need another budget model? Right now, all I want from OpenAI is a new flagship model that can finally beat Opus 5.5. That’s it. Why would I want yet another cheap model that’s going to be incredibly dumb and practically useless to me? I really hope this is either a mistake or that we’re getting GPT-6.1 Astra alongside Terra
