Why GPT-6 Sol can't outrank flagship Astra under the same version number
The author uses Anthropic's version naming as an analogy to argue that a Sol model sharing Astra's version number could not realistically be better than the family's flagship.
That couldn’t really happen in any scenario, because the model being released was GPT-6 Sol, and it would naturally be compared to GPT-6 Astra. If it were GPT-6.1 Sol, 6.2 Sol, or 6.5 Sol, then you’d be right. But since it had the “same number” as the current Astra version, it could NEVER realistically be better than the flagship model of the family, you know? Anthropic works the same way. They didn’t launch Opus 5 as something better than Fable 5. They launched Opus “5.5” as something better than Fable “5.1”, and now Fable “5.5” is expected to be better than Opus “5.5”. Hope that made sense, hahahah.
