Rumor: GPT-6 follow-up models and an Astra successor in the works
A claim says OpenAI internally refers to "models" in the plural, possibly including Sol, Luna and 6.1 Astra, alongside UI and usage-limit changes.
Yeah. I was told “models,” plural, so it’s probably not just one. I’d expect GPT-6 Sol, GPT-6 Luna, and GPT-6.1 Sol to eventually make their way into Chat, although honestly, I’m not sure all three would even be necessary. 6.1 Sol alone would already make a lot of sense if it’s better than GPT-5.6 Sol. I’d also keep an eye out over the next few weeks for a possible successor to GPT-6 Astra. GPT-6.1 Astra may have been delayed, but the internal research around what comes after it clearly didn’t stop. And beyond models, I’d expect broader UI, UX, and usage-limit changes too. The direction seems to be simplifying, merging, and improving the overall experience. I was told that “all the feedback is being taken into consideration.”
