GPT-6.1 Sol ultrafast mode rolls out with API pricing
Ultrafast mode for GPT-6.1 Sol is rolling out in the API, Codex and ChatGPT Work, with Work and Codex limited to Pro $500 and eligible Enterprise/Edu plans, and API pricing at $12/M input and $60/M output for Sol and $60/M input and $300/M output for Astra.
We’ve waited so long for this, and it’s finally happening. OpenAI is now rolling out Ultrafast mode for GPT-6.1 Sol in the API, Codex, and ChatGPT Work, following the earlier release for GPT-6 Astra. But there’s a catch: in Work and Codex, access is currently limited to Pro $500 users and eligible Enterprise/Edu plans. And the API pricing is pretty wild: GPT-6.1 Sol: $12/M input, $60/M output GPT-6 Astra: $60/M input, $300/M output We all knew this incredible technology would initially be expensive, and honestly, it makes sense. For people running large-scale agentic workflows, the speed could be worth every penny. But I still dream of a future where this becomes the standard ChatGPT speed for everyone. First $200 users, then $100, then $20, and eventually even free users. (Tibo, please hear my prayers.)
