Claude platform adds OpenTelemetry agent observability
Anthropic added native tracing for Claude Managed Agents, the Messages API and SDKs, letting teams follow agent turns, model calls, tool use and MCP calls in Grafana, Datadog and other OTLP tools; public beta.

Claude goes OpenTelemetry, bringing AI agents into your Grafana and Datadog dashboards. Anthropic has added native tracing for Claude Managed Agents, the Messages API, and Claude SDKs. You can follow agent turns, model calls, tool use, and MCP calls, with latency and token usage attached. That means you can debug a slow Claude agent alongside the services it talks to in tools like Grafana, Datadog, Honeycomb, and Sentry. The traces follow OpenTelemetry’s GenAI conventions and work with standard OTLP endpoints. For Managed Agents and the Messages API, you configure a destination in the Claude Console. It’s available in public beta. Your AI agents can now show up in the same observability tools as the rest of your infrastructure.
