OpenAI dropped 20+ updates in one DevDay. ChatGPT keeps moving away from a chat box. The list of features is not the point. The point is an agent on its own cloud computer, still working after you close the laptop. September 29, DevDay 2026. 20+ launches. The headline is Dots. Dots are always-on agents on GPT-6 Astra. Each one gets a cloud computer and a browser. They connect to apps through plugins. OpenAI cites 4,000+. You set the task. The agent runs it without you in every step. Not open to everyone. Pro, Business Premium, and Enterprise, and only in some regions. Rolling out slowly. GPT-6.1 Sol shipped next to it. Close to Astra on coding and computer use, at one-fifth the token price: $2 per million input and $10 per million output, versus $10 and $50 for Astra. Ultrafast hits up to 300 tokens per second in Codex, up to 8x normal speed. Up to 6x in the API. It sits on the new Pro 500 plan at $500 a month. Codex Cloud keeps the task running with the laptop closed. OpenAI is building a workspace, not a chatbot. Person, agent, apps. The announcement alone does nothing. The features are useless if you do not know where they plug into your work. A breakdown of how to wire this into a pipeline, not a demo, comes next. Save the post for now.
