DoorDash adds text-to-order AI, delivery drones, DashOS and MCP connector
DoorDash launched AI ordering by text, its own autonomous delivery drone system DoorDash Air, a merchant system called DashOS, and an MCP connector.
DOORDASH JUST ANNOUNCED A BUNCH OF NEW FEATURES You can now text DoorDash to order food, ask for recommendations or even say “order my usual,” with its AI handling the search, cart and checkout. The beta waitlist is opening for U.S. iPhone users. Also unveiled DoorDash Air, its own autonomous delivery drone system. Pilots will start in Northern California with Chipotle and Popeyes. DoorDash says about 80% of typical restaurant orders are small enough for the aircraft, with initial tests averaging under 5 minutes from restaurant to doorstep. Retail is expanding too, with Macy’s, Anthropologie, The North Face, Vans and Timberland joining the marketplace. DoorDash is also rolling out returns, where a Dasher can pick up eligible items from your home and take them back to the store. For businesses, DoorDash launched DashOS to connect ordering, reservations, loyalty, guest management and marketing in one system, plus an MCP connector that lets companies bring DoorDash ordering into workplace AI tools. And for Dashers, it launched DashBuddy, an AI assistant for questions around scheduling, hotspots, payments and other parts of dashing.
