Developer: in the Astra era the model is the cheap part, the moat is memory and data pipelines

The author argues Astra's focus is not generating text, code or images but autonomously deciding what to attend to when given massive information and persistent context, so the real advantage lies in the memory, tools and agent layers built around the model.

GPT 6 ASTRA IS STARTING TO LOOK LESS LIKE A CHATBOT AND MORE LIKE A BRAIN. The interesting part isn't that Astra can generate text, code or images. It's what happens when you give it thousands of pieces of information, persistent context and a system that can decide what deserves attention. I’ve been building with agents lately, and this is the shift that keeps standing out to me. The model itself is becoming the cheap part. The real advantage is everything you put around it: memory, tools, data pipelines, specialized agents and a layer that connects all of their outputs into one usable context. That changes how you build. Instead of asking AI one question at a time, you can build a system that is constantly collecting information, reasoning over it and creating new context for the next decision. The AI doesn't just answer you anymore. It starts developing a working model of the environment around it. That's what I wanted this visual to represent. Not an AI generating another response, but an AI system continuously absorbing signals and turning them into something it can reason about.
