Opus 5.5 and Jev turn Meta Ray-Bans into open-source chess cheat glasses
An open-source project streams the board from Meta Ray-Bans to a Mac over a WhatsApp video call, where Jev cheaply pre-checks whether the board is clear or changed before Opus 5.5 reads the position and Stockfish picks a move spoken back through a virtual mic.
this is quite insane ... This guy reverse-engineered his Meta Ray-Bans 3 with Opus 5.5 into a 3,000+ Elo chess engine. He built open-source AI cheat glasses using Opus 5.5 + Jev. How it works: 1. Run npx chesshacker setup on your Mac. It pulls Stockfish from GitHub and verifies the checksum. 2. Put on the Ray-Bans and video-call your Mac on WhatsApp. The glasses see the board; the Mac sees what they see. 3. The Mac grabs frames from the call (~1/sec while waiting, 1 every 3s on your turn). 4. Jev does a cheap pre-check: Is the board clear? Is a hand covering it? Did anything move? No change = no AI call. 5. Opus 5.5 reads the board. The app only accepts a move if it’s legal compared to the known position. 6. Stockfish thinks for ~0.5s and picks the best reply (with eval like +1.5 or “mate in 3”). 7. macOS speaks it through a virtual mic into the WhatsApp call (“Rook a to d1”) so you hear it in your ear. 8. A Mac dashboard shows everything live: turn, suggested move + confidence, move list, and logs. Copy the workflow, then check out the guide on reverse-engineering anything with Opus 5.5 👇
