OpenAI lead open sourced his GPT-6 Astra pipeline, and it does the one thing no image model can - it builds a room you can actually walk into 52 material presets, 18 light rigs, 7 export targets, MIT license ROOMCAST replaces a week of blocking, texturing and lighting with a description and a plan drawing it never generates a picture of a room. it generates the room, as geometry you can walk through, open in Blender, and hand to a client • how a room gets built > plan - a flat drawing or a paragraph becomes walls, openings and ceiling heights with real dimensions > mass - furniture placed by clearance rules, not by vibes, so doors open and chairs pull out > material - surfaces assigned by name, with roughness and scale set per surface instead of one global slider > light - fixtures matched to the room's actual window orientation and the hour you ask for > render - the scene exports to glTF, USD or a native Blender file with the hierarchy intact the clearance pass is the part nobody builds image models put a sofa 30cm from a wall because it looks right. this one refuses the layout, because the walkway drops below code and someone has to live there that single rule is the difference between a mood board and a drawing a contractor will accept • what comes back out > variants - the same plan in five finishes, same geometry, swapped materials only > hours - the identical room at 8am, noon and dusk, lit from the real window direction > list - every object in the scene with dimensions, ready to price > diff - change one wall and only the affected geometry rebuilds > walk - a browser link the client opens without installing anything fork it, point it at one plan you already have, and have a walkable version by tomorrow start with plan and mass only turning on all 52 materials before the geometry is right is the fastest way to render a beautiful room nobody can build whoever wires this in stops selling renders and starts selling rooms clients have already walked through
