Google Docs 原生支持 .md 文件编辑
Google Docs 与 Drive 现在可直接打开、编辑、评论 .md 文件,无需转换,所有 Workspace 与个人账号默认开启。
Google spent 20 years pushing everyone to turn their files into Google Docs. Today it gave up on that, for exactly one type of file. The type AI writes. You can now open, edit, and comment on raw .md files in Docs without converting them. Drive renders them like finished documents. No settings toggle, no admin control, on for every Workspace and personal account. The timeline tells you who actually drives Google's roadmap now. Back in 2022, Google added Markdown shortcuts for bold text and headers. In 2024 came import and export, with half the features buried behind a preferences toggle that shipped turned off. Developers had requested all of it for a decade and got drip-fed. Then coding agents made .md the default output for specs, plans, and READMEs, and Google shipped full native support in a single release. Google's own announcement says the quiet part. They describe Markdown as the format LLMs use to preserve structure. This feature exists because every spec an agent writes as .md and a team edits in an IDE or on GitHub is a document that skips Google entirely, and the volume of those documents is exploding. Format lock-in stops working when the heaviest writer of files is a machine with zero switching costs. So Google moved the moat up a layer. Keep your file format, they're saying. The comments, the suggestions, the real-time cursors, the company SSO everyone already lives in... try taking those with you. Google defended its file format for two decades. AI agents dissolved that position in about two years, and Google's answer was to hand over the format and keep the comment thread.
