Muse comes down to 6 words. Learn these and the rest of the app makes sense. Most of what trips people up about Muse is its vocabulary. It's Meta's personal agent, and it works through a handful of ideas that it names for you. Here's what each one means, with an example: 1. SOUL.md This is the plain file where you write Muse's rules. You can open it and edit it, which makes it the closest thing Muse has to a settings page. A good first line is "Ask me before you buy or send anything." 2. Goals Instead of one long chat, Muse breaks what you ask into goals and shows you the ones it's working on right now. Every morning you check the goals, so you aren't scrolling back through a conversation to find out what happened. 3. Chief of Staff This one is a prompt, not a feature. You tell Muse to act as your Chief of Staff and it asks you 20 questions, five at a time. Then it saves what it learned to memory and tells you what it saved. 4. Approval card Before Muse spends money or sends something, it shows you a card with a yes or no. Muse pays through Stripe's Link wallet, so that card is the only place you get a vote, and I'd read every one. 5. Library Everything Muse finishes lands here. Ask for a plan and you get a PDF, a checklist or a small web page, saved where you can open it later. 6. Connections These are the apps you let Muse into, like Gmail and your calendar. Start with just those two. Muse keeps a profile of the people you mention, so I wouldn't connect your whole contacts list on day one. So what does a good setup look like? It takes about ten minutes: connect Gmail and your calendar, make Muse your Chief of Staff, write your SOUL.md rules, then turn off training under Settings and Data controls. After that, give it one errand where it can't spend money. Over 95% of Muse's users are also on Facebook, according to Apptopia, so a lot of people who never thought about agents are about to ask you what this is. Send them this.
