Opus 5.5 and Haiku 5.5 got one prompt: build the birth of Earth in 3D. Opus spent $5.75. Haiku spent 18 cents. One shot each, zero edits. Opus took 49 minutes, Haiku finished in 10. Opus wins on detail, with sharper lava and a better final Earth. Haiku still hits every stage, from the dust disk to the Moon, for 32x less. I'm not sure 32x bought anything. Which one would you pay for? API rates per million tokens: Opus $4 in, $20 out. Haiku $0.10 in, $0.50 out. Most people pay Opus prices for work Haiku does for pocket change.
